My Mission Statement

My Mission Statement
I am following my heart to Uganda to love, accept, and cherish the children I haven’t met yet. I am laying down my own life for the people of Uganda who so easily could have been born in my place on this earth, and I in theirs. I wish to know their stories, their fears, their dreams, and their laughs. I will keep my eyes and ears open to see those in front of me, living in each moment, rather than passing them by unnoticed. I must not waste breath on how I suffer, but rather how I am being changed through my suffering, and how I affect those given to me.

Your money is going towards House of Hope: an organization working primarily in the Masaka District of Western Uganda, along the trade route where HIV/AIDS most devastated Uganda.  House of Hope is focused on bringing aid and education to the orphans of the area, most of whom lost their parents due to AIDS related illnesses.  Approximately 100 children, aged 3-17 years, are currently recieving adequate nutrition, clean water, medical care, education, and the security of knowing that someone loves them from House of Hope.  15 of the children live at House of Hope full time.  17 of them come from child-run households where their primary guardian is 14 years or younger.

House of Hope was founded in 2005 by Jenifer Tumwizere, an educated Ugandan woman who fell in love with the local kids after traveling to the area.

The money you donate will go to House of Hope in Masaka, Uganda, East Africa. I was asked to not bring boxes or trunks of supplies due to:

1. lack of cargo space to transport more than me and my two bags. Any other luggage or supplies I bring off the plane will require additional transportation and high fees.
2. the peak of rainy season in April which causes transportation to be more difficult.
3. Their ability to purchase any supplies they need in the capital city; Kampala.

However, if you feel an urge to donate a specific item(s), I may be able to bring them over in my bags. Please keep in mind, however, that I am only allowed two bags and space is limited.
